The Pacmasta steel strap cutter 19mm is a purpose-built hand tool designed to shear cleanly through steel strapping up to 19mm in width in a single, controlled action. For warehouses, distribution centres, and freight handling operations that regularly open strapped loads, this cutter offers a straightforward and safer alternative to improvised cutting methods - no power source required, and no complex setup needed before use.

Key Features of the Steel Strap Cutter 19mm

The following features make this steel strap cutter 19mm a practical, dependable choice for any site handling 19mm steel strapping as part of their regular workflow.

  • Cuts steel strapping up to 19mm in width cleanly and in a single action
  • Compact dimensions of 31 x 6 x 4 cm - easy to store on a workbench or carry in a tool kit
  • Designed for one-handed operation, keeping the process simple for operators throughout a shift
  • No external power source required - ready to use immediately wherever it is needed on the floor
  • Suitable for use with standard steel strapping coils and strapped packages
  • Straightforward mechanical design requires no charging, refuelling, or complex maintenance

How It Works

Steel strapping holds significant tension when applied to a load. Cutting it without the correct tool can cause the strap to snap back unpredictably, creating a genuine safety hazard for the operator and anyone nearby. The Pacmasta steel strap cutter 19mm is engineered to shear through the strap in a controlled, progressive manner rather than releasing all tension at once. This makes the unstrapping process more predictable and reduces the risk of strap recoil - a particular concern in busy warehouse and industrial environments where multiple loads are being processed throughout a shift.

The compact size of this tool means it can be kept close to the work area without taking up significant bench space. Its mechanical design has no components that require charging or refuelling, which suits high-throughput receiving and dispatch environments where downtime for equipment issues is not acceptable.

Typical Applications

The steel strap cutter 19mm is well suited to warehouses, distribution centres, manufacturing facilities, timber yards, and freight handling operations where steel-strapped loads arrive regularly and need to be opened efficiently. Operators working in goods receiving, pack-out, or general freight handling will find it integrates naturally into daily workflow. It is a practical fit for any site already using 19mm steel strapping as part of their standard packaging or receiving process, and it works well alongside tensioners and sealers as part of a complete steel strapping setup on the packing line.

If you are building out or restocking a 19mm steel strapping toolkit, the Pacmasta range covers the full process from tensioning through to sealing and cutting. For tensioning 19mm steel strap before sealing, consider pairing this steel strap cutter 19mm with the Pacmasta HD L/Handle Steel Tensioner To 19mm, which is designed to work with the same strap width. Using matched tools across your strapping process helps keep operations consistent and reduces the chance of tool-to-strap compatibility issues on the line.
