The Pacmasta ratchet PP tensioner 19mm is a manually operated polypropylene strapping tool designed for use on both flat and round packaged loads. Built around a ratchet and pawl mechanism, it delivers controlled, incremental strap tension without requiring a power source, making it a practical choice for packing benches, dispatch areas, and any site where powered tools are not available or appropriate.

Key Features of the Ratchet PP Tensioner 19mm

The following features of this ratchet PP tensioner 19mm are drawn directly from the product specification and are worth reviewing when comparing it against other manual tensioners in the range:

  • Ratchet and pawl (R/P) mechanism: Delivers incremental tensioning with a positive lock between strokes. Tension is held without the operator needing to maintain continuous force throughout the strapping cycle, which reduces fatigue during repetitive packing runs.
  • Strap width compatibility - 12mm to 19mm: Accepts polypropylene strapping across the most common PP strap sizes used in general freight and industrial packaging. A single tool covers multiple strap widths, reducing the need to switch tensioners between jobs at the same packing station.
  • Flat and round load capability: Supplied with an extra nose cone to allow use on round or cylindrical packs as well as standard flat package loads. This adds versatility without requiring a second tool at the packing station.
  • Heavy band poly strapping rated: Suited for use on heavier grades of PP strapping where light-duty plier-style tensioners would not deliver adequate strap tension.
  • Manual operation: No power source required. The tool is suitable for any packing bench, dispatch area, or location where powered tools are not practical or available.

Typical Applications

This ratchet PP tensioner 19mm polypropylene tool is suited to warehousing, freight, manufacturing, and general industrial packaging operations where polypropylene strapping is applied by hand. It is commonly used on timber bundles, flat-packed goods, cartons, and cylindrical loads such as pipe, tubing, or coiled materials. Because the tool handles both flat and round pack profiles through the included nose cone, it reduces the need to stock multiple tensioner types at a single packing station. Operations that strap a mix of load shapes and strap widths within the 12mm to 19mm range will find this tensioner straightforward to use across different jobs without significant adjustment between runs.

Completing Your Manual PP Strapping Setup

A tensioner alone does not complete a manual strapping station - a compatible sealer is required to crimp and close the strap once tension has been applied. If you are setting up or expanding a manual PP strapping station alongside this ratchet PP tensioner 19mm, the Pacmasta L/Handle PP Sealer for 19mm is a compatible sealing tool worth considering. Pairing the correct sealer with the tensioner ensures a complete and consistent manual strapping process from tensioning through to seal crimping. If you are unsure which combination of tools suits your load types and strap widths, contact the SMPS team for guidance before ordering.
